It’s hard to believe that it has been over 7 years since our last Roederer Family Reunion! Get out your calendars and save the date for November 3-4, 2018.
The response in 2010 was overwhelming, to say the least! With only 30 initial emails sent announcing the event, you all did a wonderful job spreading the word; resulting in 259 attendees! Family members descended upon Louisville from 17 states and Germany for this exciting, 2-day event. The theme was, “Claim Your Immigrant Ancestor.” Next year’s reunion theme is, “Bring Your Immigrant Ancestor to Life.”
One recurring comment heard was, “I didn’t know you and I were related!” Dozens of you learned for the first time that some of your neighbors, coworkers and classmates were actually your not-so-distant cousins! The goal of the reunion was not to just learn our family history, but to connect with one another and bring families closer together.
Now that most of you know where you fit in the Roederer family tree, it’s time to bring your ancestors to life – learn more about their homeland, reconnect with family, strengthen those family bonds and make NEW family connections!
My passion for family research has continued. I have discovered more Roederer lines, corrected mistakes in initial research and learned more fascinating personal histories of our ancestors, which I can’t wait to share with you! In the past 7 years, I have connected with many newfound cousins who have brought so much joy and happiness to my life. Yes, you CAN pick your family!
