While it is just another Tuesday everywhere else, here in New Orleans, it’s Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday”! A time full of pageantry, parades, catching beads, music, hiding behind the masks and just plain fun! To learn more about this celebration, see Mardi Gras History.
Did
you know that the Fleur de Lis is the city symbol for both New Orleans and our host city, Louisville? Another thing in common ― both cities are also known for their Southern Hospitality and hometown celebrations: The Kentucky Derby in Louisville and Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Plans are really taking shape for our reunion! Two huge announcements to share with everyone:
The Roederer Reunion 2018 website is now LIVE! Visit www.RoedererReunion.com. All reunion news in ONE place! Check out the schedule of events, registration form, convenient payment link, lodging options, area attractions and all previous newsletters (in case you missed any). Check in with the website often, as more plans develop and exciting events are announced.
Registration forms have been flowing in and the
majority have requested a Roederer Family Favorites Cookbook Vol. 2! You have spoken and we will deliver! For our 2010 reunion, many of you kindly shared your delicious family recipes with everyone. So we are once again requesting those family favorites. A limited number of the 2010 edition will be available for purchase.
Patti Jako has graciously agreed to be our Cookbook Coordinator. Please send your recipes (and family anecdotes) to patti.jako@gmail.com. Patti could also use 2-3 helping hands for inputting. It’s a fun, easy, online coordination. Anyone who would like to help out, Patti would love to hear from you.
Many thanks to those who have already submitted your registration forms and payments. It is looking like we are once again going to have a terrific turn-out! Keep those forms coming (even if you are not sure if you can attend). Click Reunion Registration.
Please don’t forget to take advantage of the Early Bird Special now through March 31st. Easy online payment links on the website or checks accepted, as well.
Once again, a gentle reminder for you out-of-towners ― book your hotel rooms early before the Breeder’s Cup crowd makes those rooms disappear.
And once again…HAPPY MARDI GRAS…to all!
Cousin Rhonda
