It was nearly a year ago that the first newsletter went out announcing the Roederer Family Reunion. It’s hard to believe we’re just a few days awayfrom gathering in Louisville!
And what a year it’s been… 16 newsletters, 300 new family recipes & stories gathered, over 600 visitors on the website, with over 2000 pages viewed, new family branches discovered, a change of venue (that was fun!), incredible auction items gathered, a busy Reunion Store and so much more! We have even more surprises in store.
We have 208 attending from 22 states for 3 fun-filled days! And let’s not forget our German guests, some of whom have already arrived in the city. We’re thrilled that over 50 family members from our first reunion will be joining us again.
Now for some of the nitty-gritty details many of you have been asking about… schedule of events, proper attire, Churchill Downs parking, sponsorship, etc:
The response to our Sponsorship drive has been greatly appreciated. We are almost half way to our goal of $2500. Anyone who would like to make a contribution to help defray the cost of unexpected expenses is welcome to do so on Friday evening with our fervent “Thank You”.
Just a reminder that we will be unable to accept anyone at the door who has not pre-registered. The final number of guests at each event has been tallied and given to our caterers.
Please consider carpooling Saturday and/or Sunday with your new and reacquainted relatives. We would appreciate it if local volunteers could swing by the Holiday Inn to pick up our out-of-town family members. Contact me on Friday night or beforehand to coordinate. Breeder’s Cup weekend will have surging Uber/taxi rates… that is IF you can even get one.
- Holiday Inn Hotel Atrium, Lounge and Pegasus Room, 1325 S. Hurstbourne
- Bring your appetites! It will be much more than “snacks”, as the hotel chef has planned a delicious buffet with a special German dish prepared just for us.
- Craving a good German beer? The hotel bar is excited to meet our group and have gone as far as to stock the bar with a couple of special authentic German brands that are off their menu. So just ask… “Ein deutsches Bier, bitte.”
- Registration packets and pre-ordered items can be picked up. Be sure to stop by the registration table when you arrive.
Saturday, Nov. 3: German Feast, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- German-American Club, 1840 Lincoln Ave.
- For those who couldn’t join us on Friday evening, registration packets and pre-ordered items are ready for pick up.

- Click Silent Auction to preview some of the items and see what strikes your fancy. Get ready to bid and hopefully TAKE HOME A NEW FAMILY HEIRLOOM!!
- There will be a raffle this evening for a special surprise item.
- Anyone who wants to celebrate their German heritage and show-off their lederhosen or dirndl is most welcome! Otherwise, “party casual” attire is appropriate.
- TIME CHANGE – everyone set your clocks… FALL back one hour.
Sunday, Nov. 4: Churchill Downs, Starting Gate Suites 4th Floor, 11:30 am – 6:00 pm
- It’s off to the races for our final reunion event at Churchill Downs, 700 Central Ave.
- Tickets for this event will be in your registration packet… don’t forget to bring them!
- If you are attending Sunday Only, your ticket will be at the front gate
- Parking: Use Black, Green or Orange lots entering the Paddock Gate
- Guests with handicap tags in their cars can park in the White lot, also entering the Paddock Gate.

- Dress code: “Track Casual”… jackets optional, vests, collared shirts, sweaters, dresses, pantsuits, dress jeans, slacks and capris are appropriate. Worn or torn garments, athletic wear, frayed or torn denim are considered inappropriate.
- We have heard from several of you wanting to show off your Derby Hats… so let’s do it! We’ll even give a cool prize for the “Best Hat”.
It’s going to be a fun-filled, busy weekend for all! I so look forward to seeing all of you… some old family friends and many new family friends.
It’s only a week away!!
